SMART Response Course The SMART Response Course is designed in the belief that “Assessment for Learning” is an important component in the inclusive classroom. It is designed for anyone with a basic understanding of computers. Participants with a working knowledge of SMART Notebook software will benefit most from the workshop.An experienced teacher from Advanced Education will lead the course, which combines formal instruction with hands-on learning. Small class sizes and a technology rich classroom guarantee that attendees will have a superior learning experience.
The SMART Senteo Interactive Student Response System workshop is a five-hour hands-on workshop. After reviewing the basics of SMART Notebook Software the rest of the session focuses on using the power and potential of Senteo to gain a better understanding of successes and challenges faced by your students. Participants will use SMART Notebook software and SMART Response to create at least one test that makes use of Differentiated Instruction and alternate assessment strategies. We recommend that you bring one or more tests from your class that can be turned into a SMART Notebook lesson. Participants will present their Senteo assessment as part of the session.
SMART Senteo Assessment workshop will focus on the following:
- Diagnostic and formative assessment strategies
- Managing the Senteo interface
- Working with class lists
- Differentiating test questions
- Types of questions
- Creating test questions
- Making use of existing tests and other resources
- Integrating standardized test questions as a diagnostic tool
- Working with the built in grade book feature
- Disaggregating data, Interpreting results
- Strategies for following up with parents
- Exporting results
- Individualizing tests for special needs students

All attendees will receive a FREE SMART Board Applied Online course presented by Mrs. Blossom of Blossom Learning (valued at $74.95 CDN) at the end of the course, as a refresher of what was taught in class. To help implement their knowledge, participants receive a notebook for personal notes from the workshop, a USB stick containing information and lesson plans that they produced during the course and the latest book, “SMART Board for Dummies”, a comprehensive set of notes designed to enhance users’ experiences with SMART Board interactive whiteboard. A certificate will be given after completion of the courses.
