SMART Response LE is intended for educators who are ready to use “clickers” as an assessment tool in the special needs classroom.


Course Description

Because of its simple interface, our SMART Response LE course is perfect for special needs classrooms. After reviewing the basics of SMART Notebook Software the rest of the session focuses on using the power and potential of SMART Response LE. SMART Response LE is well suited to motivate students in learning while providing instant feedback to help consolidate understanding of new concepts and skills. Participants will use SMART Notebook software and SMART Response to create at least one assessment that incorporates Differentiated Instruction and alternate assessment strategies. We recommend that you bring one or more tests from your class that can be turned into a SMART Notebook lesson. Participants will present their assessment as part of the session. While the course focuses on using SMART Response LE, users with other versions of SMART Response, will also benefit from this course.

Because of the common platform, we are able to offer SMART Response to teachers who are using the original version as well LE, PE, CE versions of clickers.

By the end of SMART Response, participants will be able to:

  • Create a class
  • Add students to a class
  • Create instant assessments using SMART Notebook software
  • Deliver Diagnostic and Formative assessment
  • Build consensus by polling students
  • Deliver an assessment in synchronous and asynchronous modes
  • Analyze assessment results to determine “Next Steps” for students
  • Create relevant reports
