Boardmaker for Educators

Product Overview:

Boardmaker is an established software application used extensively to create symbol based communication materials in special education classes. With boardmaker, educators and parents can quickly and easily create image bases communication systems using any of the several thousand built in images or user created images and photos. Used mostly for to support non verbal learners, Boardmaker can also be used to create a range of support documents including timetables, labels, schedules etc. for a single student or an entire class.

Intended Audience:

Boardmaker is intended for teachers, support staff, consultants, and parents who support non verbal students. The course is designed for those who have little or no experience with Boardmaker as well as those who are interested in learning more about the software in order to create practical communication and teaching resources.


Course Outline:

Boardmaker for Educators starts with an overview of the software to fully understand its power and potential. Our Education Consultants use formal instruction to present ideas and strategies for using Boardmaker as an effective communication tool. Throughout the day, attendees will be provided with ample hands-on time to develop resources that can be used in the classroom immediately.

By the end of this course participants will be able to:

  • Launch and use Boardmaker
  • Save and open Boardmaker files
  • Make effective use of the symbol library to create communication boards
  • Modify and develop relevant resources for the classroom
  • Explain the value of Boardmaker as an inclusion tool to other educators


Costs

$295 + gst per person + applicable taxes
